A pair of 4X great grandparents died in 1847 and 1851 and their certificates both give cause of death as Paralysis (3 & 6) Days, Certified. Am I correct in assuming they died a few days after suffering a stroke?

I had a google - it seems paralysis could mean a stroke but other things too, from polio to syphilis and many thing in between, including botulism.
