Charles Hall died sometime between 1860 and 1864. Trouble is I have no idea where. I suspect he was in military service - either the navy or army- his brothers were. Charles was baptised in October 1828 in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire.

In 1841 he was living in Great Missenden with his parents William and Mary. In 1860 he returned to Great Missenden and married Ann Lacey. Ann can be found living with her mother-in-law RG9/844/f26/p15 (John Hall is not her son). Ann remarried in 1864.

Members of this forum searched the census records for me in a post titled 'Did the Hall boys get gold fever?' I suspect he wasn't in England. I've browsed the National Archives records. However, since I don't know what I'm looking for, I may have missed him.

Might it by chance be - "Private Charles Hall, Private, Died 14 Jul 1862 Bengal"?
The reference given in Find My Past (glimpsed through its own newly-created jungle) is L-AG-34-33-5. Will - Treasury Bengal Vol5 pp281/2.
It also mentions BMD and Wills & Probate, but no details so this is probably just part of a standard form format.

Unfortunately Charles was the son of A.D. Hall... Scotland. Thank you FredP it certainly opened a very interesting area to research.
