I am trying to work out what is written after Greenwich Pensioner, and wondering what it could possibly mean?

I see it as U Eyd, but what it means I have no idea. Maybe you'll find the answer here.

Yes, I agree U Eyd, no idea what it can mean, I've had a look at the site you posted, thank you but nothing came to light. I will just transcribe it and let someone else work out what it means

Could it be U.E. Yard - referring to some naval dockyard or similar? But would they have been eligible to become Chelsea Pensioners?

Alternatively, could it be an abbreviation for Unemployed?

My first thought was an abbreviation for Unemployed.

Unemployed makes sense, thank you both

Sorry but it was never going to come to mind, no matter how long I stared at it
