I've just found the death of a wee lass who would have been my 2nd Gt.Aunt, her Parents being my 3rd Gt. G'Parents. They live in St. John Horsleydown, Surrey.
Tamar was born in 1805 & I had not been able to find her after that date.
    Found now listed as :
    Burial date 19 Sep 1811
Burial place St John in Thanet (Margate), St John the Baptist.
The saddest find I've found in Kent so far I think.

Query, would that suggest that Tamar had tuberculosis ? or was there some other childhood illness which may have sent her to that area.

"1796 Royal Sea Bathing Hospital, founded by Dr Lettsom, opened
    THE SEA BATHING HOSPITAL.
THE FIRST BUILDING WAS OPENED IN
1796 TO TREAT THE SCROFULOUS POOR' OF
LONDON. THE CURE INCLUDED SEA WATER
    BATHING AND DRINKING SEA WATER.THE
    HOSPITAL CLOSED IN WINTER.PATIENTS
ARRIVED BY SAILING BOAT OR STAGECOACH."

Thank you Sis, some of those I saw on another site re Margate. I didn't look at the facebook site, usually view much of theirs every day but didn't want to ask questions there. Problem is most of us were NOT around in 1811. :D

Here's a better one Wendy. Just click on 'complete article' and it will open up a pdf. Or you can click on the page image. The right hand column gives good detail about the early hospital.
