    Hello,

Charlotte was born in Rothwell in 1841. Can anyone find a christening for her there? I’ve searched FamilySearch, FreeREG and FindMyPast.

    I’d appreciate any help!

    Adam

Thomas and Ann, although Thomas died pre-1851.

Cant see anything that would be even a far fetched possibility on Anc (Although they have been giving some weird results today)

Are there any other children from the marriage? Could they all be baptised at the same time, at a later date?

    There was:

Samuel Smith (b. ca. 1840, Rothwell)
Mary Smith (b. ca. 1841, Rothwell) - presumably a twin sister
Mary Ann Smith (b. ca. 1844, Rothwell)
Foster Smith (b. ca. 1845, Rothwell)
Caroline Nursey Smith (b. ca. 1851, Rothwell)

That’s according to the 1841 and 1861 Censuses. The 1851 one is fairly consistent, although Charlotte is given as being about 7 years younger, and there is already a daughter named Caroline. I’m not sure what to make of it.

    Where’s Mary?
    Is Charlotte, Mary?
Why would they have a Mary and a Mary Ann? :sceptical:
1851 census Charlotte is 3 born born 1848 and Caroline is 10 born 1841
1861 census Charlotte is 20 born 1841 and a servant and Caroline is 10.
Their names have been reversed on one of the census.

Their years of birth according to the censuses are all over the place

All born or died in KETTERING with mother's maiden name FOSTER

No wonder I couldn’t find Foster, he was Samuel the second  and that’s why I couldn’t find Samuel one and two.
I wonder if Charlotte is Charlotte Wallis Smith :sceptical:

DAVID WILDING CLARKE married CHARLOTTE SMITH in the KETTERING registration district in 1868 - 3b - 358

They can be found living with Charlotte's widowed mother in 1871 at Barton, Little, Kettering, Northamptonshire

I can't find any baptisms for any of the children of Thomas and Ann

1841 census of Rothwell shows Ann SMITH aged 30 living at West Side of Kettering Road with son Samuel aged 1, daughters Mary & Charlotte both aged 3 months and a Mary SMITH aged 71 - Thomas's mother perhaps? - all born in the county. But, like Chimp, I cannot find the baptisms of any of the above children in the parish register of Rothwell nor can I find the marriage of a Thomas SMITH & an Ann(e) FOSTER on the Northamptonshire Marriage Index. There is a death registration for a Thomas SMITH in the December qtr 1847 at Kettering reg district (correct district for Rothwell), aged 39 but I cannot find an appropriate burial for him. I wonder if the family were non-conformist which could explain the lack of parish records for them.
