Once again a query over a Baptism year. After recording a marriage I looked up the birth/baptism of the male spouse. Tracey Charles King b.19 Sept. 1898 Baptism Date: 25 Sep 1898 Baptism Place: Plumstead St Margaret, Greenwich, England Pts:Richard King + Elizabeth King. meanwhile back at the GRO..... KING, TRACEY CHARLES x ELLIOTT Order GRO Reference: 1897 D Quarter in WOOLWICH Volume 01D Page 1298. ................. Query, when recording in F History files & software, does one put the obvious birth date as in GRO & mention in notes the later date of Baptism & recorded birth date, a slip anyone can make. Away to the market before the rain falls.
I list the birth as in the GRO, with a note as "alt date" from "source". I also record the baptism (note different location) as a separate event, and might again note the difference in birth year from the GRO record. Is that what you mean?
Yes thanks Barb, Just exactly what I mean & meant to do. I saw the lass above as born in 1898 actually was so born, possibly it helped with incorrect birth for Tracy Charles.
