William Conner is on the 1841 census and 1861 census, but have no luck with finding him and his family on the 1851 census. In 1861 the details are: William Conner 41, Marylebone, Middx Mary Conner wife 33, St Annes, Middx William Conner son 9, do Thomas Conner son 7 do joanna Conner dau 7mth do Mary Cunningham Nursemaid Tipperary Please help track in 1851. Thanks
I also wonder when married. What was Williams trade if any in 1841 & can you give census source please. Is it his Mary who died in 1863? Could he have been doing a tailor's apprenticeship in 1851?
Was William married before he married Mary? I've come across a possible 1841 census where the chap was a tailor, he's enumerated as W Conner and is living with E Conner who could be his sister, wife or another family relative.
Yes, in 1861 he was down as a Tailor. The copy census I have has cropped out the reference. but Parish is St Ann. Parl Boro Westminster and Ecclesiastical Distr. St Marythe Virgin. Place of birth Marylebone, Middx.
Not sure, he was a tailor in 1861 onwards so could be him. Although I was looking at him on 1841 census living in the household of Sarah Cooper (70) and Michael Dunn and his family living at 11 Upper York Street, Marylebone.. his occupation is just M S. But I always find the 1841 really difficult to cross check on for certainty.
If William and Mary married in 1842, Mary would have been only about 14yrs old as the 1861 census has her age as 33, so born 1828. Do you have any other details which may help to pin him down?
I think this is William in 1871, all born St Anne Middlesex, living at 4, Star Court, St Ann Soho. So, Mary must have died between say... 1863 - 1871. RG10; Piece: 143; Folio: 10; Page: 14 William Conner 51, widower, tailor William Conner 19 Thomas Conner 17 Hannah Conner 10 Kate Conner 7
I found William jnr in 1881 now married and his sister Kate is with him, do you have this? Worth mentioning that Mary Cunningham age 17 with William snr in 1861 is listed as his niece.
William jnr's marriage is on Ancestry - Gray's Inn Road St Jude, 25 Dec 1873. The witnesses are Thomas connor and Margaret Grant. Thomas and Margaret are on 1881 census together. RG11; Piece: 188; Folio: 26; Page: 47 Thomas Connor 26 Margaret Grant 25 Mary Ann Connor 6 A. Jane Connor 4 M. F. Connor 16 months
Yes I found the census record y/day (19/11), but the info on Wm Jr is something I didn't have, so adds to my narrative.
A few days ago I found a Family connection male aged 20-new wifey aged 15. Still looking for them in later years, (when I remember where I put them)
