I’m looking for Phillip Sharkey and his wife Mary, supposed née Gallagher, and maybe a couple of kids, the oldest Michael, who arrived in Australia from Donegal in the mid, or thereabouts 1860’s.
I cannot find their arrival anywhere and I would love someone with a sub of some description to have a peek for me.
The info is for our book which is coming along beautifully and is going to print shortly.
They had a number of children around the west in NSW including Hannah and I can’t find her either. I have her marriage and death but no birth so far. Perhaps she was born in Ireland as well although she is listed last in order of the children.
    Thank you in anticipation.

I have just found 2 more children bdm under the name of SHARKIE in NSW
No Hannah though. I have mapped their travels through birth registrations. The first birth in Australia I have found was in Picton in 1863 and then they head west ending up in Cargo.

Thanks Sis I have that. Ernest Rack drank strychnine and the Racks are the next family I would like help with but cant find Hannah anywhere. There were two daughters registered under SHARKIE so perhaps she is one of those.

There are a number of mentions to a Phillip Sharkey arriving in New York about the right time, his pob is Ireland but I dont think he would go there and then on to Aus. Will dig deeper on him if you want me to Sue.

There is a John P Sharkey born 1842 on Victoria Inward passenger list in 1860, but I dont have a WW sub to that website to see further details. In fact there are quite a few sharkey's of one sort or another going to either Victoria or NSW. But as I said I cannot see any more than dates and names.

The only other info on that record is that he was born in Ireland, his occupation is a Clerk and he is landing in Melbourne.

    Th
Thank you for your interest but our Philip was born c1840. He died in 1883 age 83 son of Daniel.
I have also figured out that this family didn’t call some of their children by their registered names. The eldest is supposed to be Michael And he was supposed to have been born here in 1863 but there is a John born 1862 then as far as I can see John morfs into Michael. There was supposed to be Dolly who died quite young but I think she is Catherine, the youngest but described in her obit as Dolly, youngest daughter. Then there is Hanna. I have no idea which daughter she is because there is no registration of a Hannah or Johanna.
Waiting to hear back from a family member but I’m not sure he knows either.:headbang:
