Cranford House

Cranford Chris

House Historian R.I.P.
Hello, my name is Christopher, and I am a member of a recently formed heritage and conservation group called 'Cranford Park Friends ', and am leading a team of members who are researching the Park's history.

Cranford Park,in Middlesex, was once an estate owned by the Earls of Berkeley, between 1618 and 1931. The eighteenth century mansion was demolished in 1945, and the remaining parkland and woods are now managed by the London Borough of Hillingdon.

Although the house no longer exists, one of the many objectives of the 'Cranford Park Friends' is to work with the Borough in order to try and bring its history back to life. The lives of the Berkeley Family are well documented, so we should like to research those of the servants to provide a complete picture of life in the old mansion. My friend Jan, suggested that I join this forum as a means of facilitating this research.

Being a complete 'new boy' to using a forum, I hope you will forigve any mistakes or errors that I make ( computers are not my strong point ! ). Jan, however, has reassured me that all my fellow members are very helpful and friendly, and will help me out if necessary.

Thanks for reading this, and I look forward to a mutual sharing of knowledge and getting to know you.

Christopher
