Thought I could purchase a one-off RAF service record from TNA, but that won't happen :( I have to get it from FMP. While I am umming and ahhing over that idea -- credits or subscription? is it worth it for the 1939 register? etc etc -- can anyone tell me what I can expect from an RAF record, will it for instance name any children?

There is a tree on 'A' that says 3 children but they are marked as 'Private'

Thanks Chimp, I did find that Gazette page ;)

He married in Battersea and there are two Wandsworth RD births that could be his children, but that is far from certain. Also births in Lambeth

I suppose a home address may be in the RAF record? That may narrow it down?

38 Vardens Road, Clapham Junction - that's where his wife was living. Did you get my e-mail?

An aside: If you have a Library card or access other wise to British Newspapers there is an interesting item here:
Yorkshire Post and Leeds Intelligencer 11 March 1927
    written by J. Cyprian Pearce.
    titled :-
    Capital of Bengal
Colonel Jackson's new sphere of activity.
    About half a column.

London electoral Registers has Cyprian living:
    19 Ashridge Way, Morden- Surrey-1963/4
Cyprian & probably miss Jackson who may have been born in West Ham, 1928 as was another young woman in 1920, maybe yours -maybe not.

    Thanks Wendy :)

I have wasted a lot of time today on Cyprian's siblings (including his twin) who are strictly irrelevant since they aren't the ones who married my cousin, and then I had to give up as my laptop was messing about but will try to get back into it tomorrow

Well, as far as I can determine, if Cyprian had three children (all daughters) and going by the electoral registers I can find then the two Wandsworth births and Wendy's 1928 West Ham birth seem to be the ones.

Have you checked out 'Genes Reunited'? I found one person who had the lass b. 1928 in his tree.
Do you know where was Winifred Mary in 1919-1923 when she finally appeared on Electorals? Or was there a reason why she would not be there when Cyprian was listed with the Mitchells.? Did she die in 1937?

I've not !ooked at GR in years

Short answer, I don't know :( !maybe she didn't/couldn't register before then, wasn't it initially that women had to be 31 to vote? Ashamed to say I can't remember, it's too early to concentrate.

As for her death, not sure  there's a huge gap in the electoral registers I could find between 1933 and 1964 and I am not sure where they were. I got fed up looking, I admit and was going to come back to it later. I will have another look now :)

[edit] believe you are right ma, the only death that makes sense is the 1937, for some reason I didn't see it before -- the perils of searching Ancestry when FreeBMD does a better job

Hi, my grandma is called Peggy Winifred Jackson and she was one of Cyprian’s three daughters. She was born in 1922. Can you give more information if you are still looking into this?
    What relation are you?
