Date delays

Banns read in August 1763
Marriage Licence applied for in 1765 and the marriage took place in February that year.

Groom's age at marriage was 35 and the bride was 23.

Any suggestion as to why there could have been a 2 year gap between the Banns and the marriage?

Also, I think that there was a limit on the amount of time between the Banns and the marriage taking place, which could explain them marrying by licence.
