I didn't look under Donoghue either. All I put in was the date of death that we had and the parents names.:) Strangely the death I found has a similar reference number to Winifred's.o_O

So if the David Donoghue with a wife Johanna Kearney, who I haven't found a marriage for yet, is the right family then children were:
    Edmond bap. 26 Jan 1825
    Michael bap. 25 Oct 1828
    Thomas bap. 3 Jan 1832
    David bap. 7 Jan 1833 *
    Margaret bap. 14 Feb 1835
    James bap. 1 Jan 1837
    Ellen bap.4 Oct 1839
    David bap18 Feb 1842 *

    * Note 2 Davids, it is possible that the first David died and so they used the name again for a later child, I have seen this before

Well I’m stumped. If the death isn’t on the BDM site then where did ANC and Fmp get this from?
Their son was KIA in WW1, when he enlisted the parents Winifred and Alfred were living at Byron Bay NSW. Alfred died at Byron Bay in 1934.
Byron Bay btw was the exact opposite of what it is now, mostly for the beautiful Hollywood set. Back then it was a smelly whaling station and no one went near the water.
I have checked NSW BDM too and no luck.

Using a deceased child’s name happened all the time so I think this is your family. I also wonder if the Ellen is Ellen Touhill on the marriage.

Of the children listed in post #43 I have only found 2 possible marriages.
Ellen Donoghue to John Gorman 1 Jun 1864 Ballyporeen, one witness was Edmond Donoghue
James Donoghue to Mary English 4 Feb 1866 Ballyporeen
No Fathers names given in either marriage
Could be the right people or, because of the complexity of Irish research may not be connected but Donoghue and Ballyporeen seem to be the common denominator

The James Donoghue/ Mary English marriage above is not the correct family as on the original marriage cert James' father is given as James Donoghue
