Death of Margaret McGregor

Hello,

I think I have found Margaret's death registration in Fodderty in 1862 but I'm not sure. She would have been 67. No mother's name given. Can anyone view the record on ScotlandsPeople?

I'd appreciate any help!

Yes, she is 67. Her mother's name is Ann, but the maiden name is difficult to read. Her father's name was Neil and he was a crofter.

Any good?

Died January 25th. Informant was Neil McGregor, son.

She died of consumption - TB in other words. :(

I see the fathers name is written as Neil Mckenzie, the Mckenzie has been crossed out and McGregor written over the top. Ann (margaret's mother) surname is still McKenzie. I can't make out her maiden name either.

As Jan says, The informant was Neil McGregor, Son.

Now if Margaret was a widow at death and her name was McGregor, then she must/could have/maybe had a maiden name different to that of McGregor.

Do you think that when Neil Jnr registered her death and he said his name was Neil McGregor the registrar crossed out his fathers surname, McKenzie, and entered McGregor in its place.

That would mean looking for a Neil McKenzie with a wife Ann as Margaret's parents.

Or maybe I'm just muddying the waters.

It didn't help me, but maybe someone else can read her maiden name form this inverted copy.

Or this copy.

I thought it started with M, but the M for maiden (above the name is different).

Confusing. And the fact her father is given as McGregor rather than MacKenzie. I don't know if she could've been married before as she would have been quite young to do so.
