I'm wondering if there were any medical records kept prior to 1837, in Chepstow, that would be accessible by the public.

In particular, I am looking for a record for Hans Holbein Price, who was buried 1 May 1834 in St. Mary's cemetery/churchyard.

    Thanks for your assistance.

If you know that he was in a hospital/infirmary prior to his death, then it is worth checking out the National Archives Hospital Database.

I had a look for Chepstow, but the only hospital listed did not come into being until 1941 - rather late for your chap!

However, he may well have been at another infirmary. :(

Chepstow has a museum -you can contact them via Twitter or phone 01291 626518.
The building itself was built in 1796 by an apothecary. It later belonged to a surgeon and then became a wartime hospital - so they may well have some medical records!

    Good luck!

Would there be a reason for an inquest? if so you may find records in local records office/archives.
