A friend is trying to find a birth certificate or baptism record for Anthony Delaine DeLara born Lymington 1841. Any ideas? We know he died 1915 and married Ann Champ producing 8 children.

A swift look in FreeBMD produced nothing. Even searching simply for Anthony in Lymington district for 1840-1842 had no result.Even expanding to 1838-1844 gives no joy.
How sure is your friend that he was born in Lymington area? Did it come from a census? Do other census entries agree?

I can find the marriage in Sept quarter 1867, which took place in Weymouth district 5a 596

I found the same as MarkJ. :(

However, civil registration only started in England on 1st July 1837 and in the early years, some people thought that as long as they had their children baptised, then that was sufficient. Maybe his birth was not registered.

I found some De Lara's in IOW census, the head of family was Andrew but no Anthony amongst the children.

Sorry to question your post, but in trying to help I found Anthony Letora born circa 1844 Italy on 1871 census, he was married to Andrew De Lara's dau Margaret.

Wondering if there's some confusion. The family were in Newport IOW

ETA - sorry I should read through things properly, I see Anthony De Lara married in 1867.

Thanks to all those who have looked for Anthony Delaine DeLara and found snippets of information. I am trying to help a friend who is a DeLara and he knows that Anthony was the son of Andrew DeLara born Palermo 1816 who married Barbara Sorte born 1819 Frankfurt. ADD was the oldest of their 7 children the next 5 were born in Weymouth and the last in Southampton.
Anthony Lettora, mentioned earlier, married Margaret DeLara, Anthony's sister. ADD married Ann E Champ from Osmington but I know nothing else about her. They appear to have moved around as their children were born in Portsea, Bridport (4 of them) South Stoneham and Southampton.

This could be a possibility as the parents came from Italy and Germany. Family has the birth in Lymington but this could be false of course.
