Burial at Manchester St John on 4 September 1812 for Ann HILTON wife of Michael, Spinner & Weaver, aged 39, Fever (via Ancestry), therefore presumably a birthdate of c1780. Tying in with this, is a baptism at Cathedral Manchester on 20 February 1780 for an Ann DRABLE daughter of John & Esther - perhaps a possibility? There is a subsequent marriage at Manchester St Mary on 8 September 1814 for a Michael HILTON, widower, of Manchester & a Lydia HOULDSWORTH, widow, of Manchester? I have queried this because there are two other marriages for a Michael HILTON as well, one on 19 May 1816 (Ancestry have transcribed it as the 16th) at St Mary where he is described as a widower and Weaver and the other on 27 December 1825 again at Manchester St Mary where he is described as a widower & Weaver. If they are all one and the same Michael HILTON, he didn't have much luck with his wives, did he. The register images are all on Ancestry, so if you can access them you can compare the signatures, which to me all look pretty similar. Other people's opinions welcomed!!

I cannot subtract - too much wine yesterday!! Should be a birthdate of c1773!!, which rules out the baptism I gave you.

To add to the above, there is a Family Tree on Ancestry and the owner of the Tree (TrevorH14) mentions a journal written by Michael's grandson John HILTON which seems to give quite a lot of useful information. It might be worth your while contacting him.

That fits nicely with the baptism in post # 6 :)
