Hi Eddie, Is the article online? If so, please post the link to it, but make it non-clicky if the website hosting it is either commercial or asks for donations.
Thanks, it is not online, but I can post it online and then post the link. Thanks, that sounds better!
This link should lead to it...hopefully! http://abbeysideheritagearchive.blogspot.ie/2015/04/dungarvan-workhouse-orphan-girls.html
Thanks for that Eddie. Such sad reading actually. It's so hard to imagine how our families managed to survive sometimes. Jane
Thanks again Eddie. It gives others a foresight into their sad lives and I'm so sorry for the way that some of them were treated. Have you found all your girls Eddie?
Thankyou Eddie, what a great read, look forward to more when the time comes. My 3 x Great Grandfather and his brothers emigrated from Ireland in the 1852,although not having it as tough as the girls, they too endured a difficult time in Australia
God No! I placed notice in several Australian newspapers, but they are slow to come, I did get some from various parts of Ireland, but I really cannot get bogged down with other parts of the country. There are a few more Australian/Dungarvan articles on the Blog!
