    I've been referring to this site a lot in recent months while 'getting to know' my northern mining folk. A particularly useful resource is the list of old mining occupations.

    Last night I found one of my Cumbrian miners mentioned in a newspaper article on the above site, that I hadn't been able to find elsewhere. He was witness to an accident, and it gave his full address, name of the mine, how long he'd been employed there.
