I am just thinking about Easter...to those of us in the Northern Hemisphere it is all about new beginnings... baby animals and birds, flowers sprouting up, leaves popping open. To those of you in the Southern Hemisphere I think it would be stranger than Christmas with no snow. It is your Autumn and things are dying off.... how do you celebrate? Chocolate eggs would not have the same meaning...:D
    Happy Easter to all... upload_2019-4-17_11-43-12.jpeg

The same way you celebrate. After all we, mostly, are from European stock. And chocolate eggs? With gusto! Easter egg hunts for the kids. Chocolate rabbits. Trying our best to introduce the chocolate Bilby as rabbits are pests to be reckoned with over here. They destroy farm land and are not welcome. A Bilby is a native that at first sight looks a little like a rabbit but much more Oz friendly and fighting for his life due to feral cats, dogs and foxes (another introduced destroyer of native fauna)
There’s nothing strange about no snow at Christmas, we have sunshine!!
Autumn weather here is gorgeous, moreso where we are now. Temperature here at this time of year is moderate...today 23c, all depends what part of Oz you live.
This Easter brings us the hot air balloon festival at Canowindra, 40 minutes from our front door and so we are off to that on Saturday. Hopefully we will get some great photos. In Sydney is the Royal Easter Show, a very large agriculture show. It’s also school holidays and my kids are coming next week.......:D:D So Easter is Easter no matter where you live. The best time of the year as far as I’m concerned.
When I turn on the computer I will post a photo of a Bilby

The Bilby...baby ones. Long Eared Bandicoot. Almost extinct due to introduced foxes and cats. So the sale of chocolate Bilbies at Easter instead of chocolate rabbits helps with their conservation.

@Archie's Mum .... they are so cute! From the looks of their feet they must live in holes in the ground too. They have feet like a mole. You have so many cute critters that aren't seen anywhere else. As for your Agricultural show...sounds like our Fall Fairs. Enjoy your weekend!

How clever you are. They do live in burrows but are completely nocturnal. Rabbits compete with them as they eat what rabbits do. Ozzies don't like rabbits. The only good rabbit in Oz is a dead one and the English brought them here as well as foxes, as they missed their fox hunting when they emigrated. So now we are trying to clean up the damage. A battle we wont win I'm afraid. So a percentage of the profit from chocolate bilbies goes to their conservation.
He is rather sweet isn't he? He is a long eared bandicoot and when we were kids, his relative, another species of bandicoot would dig up my Mums lovely lawn in the middle of the night after bugs and roots. She was not happy.

    To you as well.
Great disappointment. Drove all the way to see the balloons, not flying. So bought a glass owl and a rusty metal chook for the garden instead. Back there on Tuesday with the kids so hope they fly for us then. It was a lovely drive anyway.

Our national pastime appears to be hunt the Easter traffic jam. The nearest to me will be at the end of my lane where it joins the road to Ashby de la Zouch, Twycross Zoo, Bosworth Battlefield, and various kiddies adventure centres in the National Forest so I shall be a stop at home, enjoying myself nonetheless.

Whatever you get up to, have a happy, and safe, Easter everyone. :)

We have lovely Autumn coloured leaves quilting our front lawn, also new shoots of living garlic & other plants appearing. quite encapsulates Easter I think, hoping the word is correct. Matters not as death & rebirth is a forever thing going on & keeping the faith for us all, regardless of a specific date - no matter who thought it up. Happy season every one, & blessings with every egg you devour.
