Eliza RIGGLESFORD married James WATSON on 30th July 1867 at Cranbrook Parish Church.

The census of 1871 has James as a visitor to John and Jane TOWNNER (piece 938, folio 98, page 22) and is recorded as married.

However, I can find no trace of Eliza. She had been born about 1845 in Hawkhurst, Kent but I can find no trace of her after the marriage.

I also cannot find either of them in 1881 etc.

If you are able to track her down, I would very much appreciate it. :)

Well they had a son James in the Dec quarter of 1867. Not on GRO that I could find. There is a death for a James Watson born 1867 in Tunbridge Wells 1898

Hmmm... Yes, I saw that one as well but, like you, could not find the birth registrations to discover Alice's maiden name, and then a marriage.

There is a tree at A which has Eliza death @ Tenterden, 2a, 974 in 1911 but no records for her in between. Perhaps like James she was living as if married to someone else.

WILLARD was the surname of the two witnesses at the marriage of James and Eliza - just wondered if you had noticed?

However this is more likely the Eliza who was sister to Catherine who married William Parsons as she was with them in 71 and 81

Was hoping to find her at home with her parents but she's not there in 1871 and her father had died by 1881 and her mother remarried. She's not with her mother and new husband in 1881 either.

James and Alice are in Linton in 1891, with all the 1881 children except Elizabeth J, and a raft of new ones.
James Williard b1874 Loose is still with them
