Elizabeth Brannon was baptised on 12 May 1803 at St Marys Lambeth.
Parents James Brannon and Elizabeth (Leonard).
Of the 4 Brannon children, Elizabeth (the first born of the children)is the only one I am finding difficult to obtain any reliable information on any marriage etc. etc.
All 4 children were christened in St Marys.

Her father J Brannon was a successful Shipbreaker in Rotherhithe so I assume she possibly remained in that area.

Any information will greatly assist with my Brannon research.

Did Elizabeth junior perhaps die? There is a PCC Will dated 26 January 1818 and proved at London on 21 April 1818 for James BRANNAN of Rotherhithe, Shipbreaker & Shipwright in which he mentions his wife Elizabeth and his three children, i.e. James Ledger BRANNAN, Thos Leonard BRANNAN & George Butler BRANNAN - no mention of a daughter Elizabeth and probate was granted to his widow Elizabeth BRANNAN.

    Hi,
I have an extract of the Will and noticed that James had omitted his daughter. Just thought that for whatever reason this was deliberate.
I've searched FMP for her death from 1803 to 1820, with no results.

Am now looking at Wendy's post fro marriage to James Barnett.

    Thanks
    Bernard.

    Hi
Thnaks for this. I checked out a James and Elizabeth in 1841 census in Camberwell. James declares his employment as in Police. Then in 1851in Beighton there's James born Mitcham, Surrey as Late Sergeant London, so is probably matching with 1841 census. BUT on 1851 Census Elizabeth gives her birth place as Lewes Sussex, which casts doubt the this is the correct James/Elizabeth. Also 1851 census she has at age 47 entered as her daughter age 6 born Peckham and son age 4 born Brighton. Maybe Grandchildren due to her age??
Then 1861 Elizabeth is Head and still in Brighton with Daughter and Son. Looks as if John died in 1856 (FreeBMD).
So from Elizabeths continuous declaration of Lewes,I seem to be on the wrong track. But Mary born Peckham is also adding confusion.
Then on Family Search there is for 1861 census an entry for Burnette in Rotherhithe RG09 pce 390 folio 158 page27 but I cant get any image or transcript and not showing in FMP.
Can you make anyting out of this???
    Thanks
    Bernard

The baptism on 12 May 1803 at St Mary's Lambeth, was for an Elizabeth BRENAN daughter of James and Elizabeth, so are you sure that this Elizabeth belongs to the family of Elizabeth and James BRANNON?

From the GRO index both children have the mother's maiden name as
    Crunden.

8/5/1826 in Brighton James Barnett married Elizabeth Crunden.

So you can discount this family as yours.

I've spent this afternoon reviewing all my notes etc and having compared info on FMP and Family Search plus the fact that James' Will made no mention at all of Elizabeth, I have to admit that I was running up a blind alley.

Thanks to you and all who joined tis thread.

Don't mean to flog a dead horse, but the spelling of Brenan -Brannan is entirely up to the officiating minister & how he heard it said, & both could apply to same woman.
Also quite possible that she died very early & records not yet found.:(

The baptisms of the three sons mentioned in the will were at St. Mary's Rotherhithe, whereas the baptism for Elizabeth Brenan was at St. Mary's Lambeth. Are they the same or different?

Best left to native but from what I can see, you have to travel through Bermondsey and Southwark to get from Rotherhithe to Lambeth. ?????

#There's a St Mary's at both Lambeth and Rotherhithe.
Whilst keeping an open note on Elizabeth, I think the conclusion will be that Elizabeth 1803 in Lambeth is wrong.
As the Brannons were Rotherhithe based for home and business I reckon that IF they had a daughter she would have been christened in Rotherhithe.
So big ?????? on Elizabrth for now.
