I also have Edward and Sarah with a child born Needham Market 1769 by the name of William Glainfield Cooper. Could this be Sarah's surname?

Just found a marriage on FS for an Edward Cooper and Sarah Glanfel 15 Oct 1768 both 21 c1747, Suffolk. No other details.
I think that might sort out William Glainfield Cooper.

OOOH!! Edgar Spencer Freeman Easlea and George Freeman Easlea above are the sons of Elizabeth Maria Cooper and William Easlea, whose father is Edward Cooper. Maybe that Edward Cooper and Sarah Freeman marriage is the one! The eldest daughter (my 2x g grandmother is Elizabeth SARAH Easlea) maybe named after her mother and grandmother??

Two other witnesses on the marriage, besides Jeremiah Cooper, were Sarah Goymer and Elizabeth Lucock.

Hello Everyone - I was reviewing the information received from all the good people with replies on the above Elizabeth Maria. And checking out the Jeremiah Cooper's and Edward Cooper's. Jeremiah bap 14 Oct 1771 St Mary, Barking to Edward Cooper and Sarah Glanfield (Glanfell....) and Edward bap 10 Jun 1774 St Mary, Barking to same parents.

An earlier post has Ma (Wendy) with:

    "Sarah Freeman
    Birth: Abt 1780
Baptism: 4 May 1780 - Lowestoft, St Margaret, Suffolk, England
Vital: 4 May 1780 - Lowestoft, St Margaret, Norfolk 45-50 to Claydon
    .....................
    Sarah Freeman
    Birth Date:Abt 1776
    Baptism Date:22 Sep 1776
    Baptism Place: Kessingland, Norfolk, England
Pts: Mary Freeman + William Freeman
    Kessingland 32-42 miles to Claydon

Quite a few Sarah Freemans in Norfolk baptisms."

I think that Edward's parents are Edward Cooper and Sarah Glanfield and his brother is Jeremiah (1771).

Would some kind person, please review.

    I have found 2 baptism's for Sarah Glanfield;

One is Sarah Glanfield dau of John and Ann July 2, 1738 at Hadleigh Independent, 1690-1746; and

Sarah Glanfield dau of John and Margt. baptised 16 Sep 1737, Martlesham, Suffolk.

For the marriage of Edward Cooper and Sarah Glanfell (Glanfield) in 1768 it said age 21, so assumption of birth in 1747? or that they were both born in 1747?

When I searched the baptisms for Sarah, I had a five year +/- on the year of 1736, there were only 4 results - one for Martlesham and three for same baptism at Hadleigh.

There is a burial (National Burial Index) for Sarah Glanfield 11/5/1740 at Martlesham, but the age given is 0
I have only seen a transcription, I wonder if the original would shed more light on the age

Bearing in mind that ages could be 'fluid' on paperwork there is also this baptism (making Sarah aprox 17 when she married)

Sarah Glanfield d/o Jn[John] and Susanh [Susannah] at Hadleigh Independent
    27/9/1751
FMP has the original and this couple have 3 baps over 3 years and are from
Kinsey(?). The nearest I can see on a map is Kersey

Hi MollyMay! I have just viewed the transcription at FMP and like your cut and paste, the Kir(n)sey easily could be Kersey (spelling is only as good as person writing it down) Could she be about 4 years old at baptism? The person writing the information in the baptism book did not put ages in......

This leads leads to another question..... If she was born 1747 - 1751, I need an Edward Cooper (probably not the one I have attached in my database) who would be born 1745 - 1755 and the parents. Edward that I have is baptised 1736, so is he the correct one. The marriage says they were both 21 born 1747........

Thank you for your help.

I have a marriage where the bride claims to be 21 at her marriage,
she was 15 , her father was one of the witnesses and as far as I can determine she was not pregnant at the time (based on the birth the following year of a child), this was the 1850's.

I think the best thing would be to try and build families around each of these Sarah Glanfields plus look at the naming pattern of her children to see if there is any links to parents or siblings etc.

That seems the most likely way of trying to find the correct people.

TY for your help. :D Wendy aka mrshuma
