The above was born in Lancashire in 1878 to Edward Hooper( born Cornwall) and Margaret Jane Beckerleg (born Cornwall).
Emily emigrates in 1903( but I can't access any other information except for the date)and she marries Christopher Hodgson on the 6th June 1903 at Marquette Ishpeming Michigan.
Her father is Edward mother unknown and his parents are Christopher Hodgson and Agnes Clark.
I can't find them in the censuses.

That was a short and sweet visit to the USA.
The son has Edward as a middle name so was named after her father.

Emily Jane Hooper arrived at Ellis Island on 25 May 1903 on the Celtic. She is described as 25 years, a servant. Last place of residence is Dalton in Furness. She was going to her cousin Mrs Thomas at 12 Ely Street Ishpenning, Michigan. As she married in the June I’m guessing she was going there to be wed to Christopher Hodgson. Emma Jane Thomas was witness to her marriage. Family Search.

May be wrong but I wonder if the cousin Emma Jane Thomas born 1846 in Cornwall is the one married to Richard Thomas. They were living in Michigan . Emma died in 1906.

Northern Michigan would have been terribly inhospitable at that time. Very nasty winters . I noticed Christopher worked in the mines... there was a mine there as well so maybe he thought he would give it a try.!
