Hi all. Now looking for Emma Rebecca Rack nee Gillman. She was born in Finchley or Tottenridge or Barnet as on Freebmd in 1852. She married Urbain Rack Sep qtr Barnet 1870 3a 90.
1861 she is with her family, father Samuel a gardener and mother Emma in Finchley Middlesex.
1871 she is married with Urbain and first child Urban Harry in Marylebone.
1881 she is not with Urbain but with her brother George Gillman and her 2 year old son Frederick (Laurence Frederick?) in Islington.
1891....no show. Neither her nor Frederick. Where did they disappear to.?

Well that really helped. Thank you Chimp. I don’t watch Dr Who nor do we have/ever had blue police boxes here. So off to Mr Google to find out what on earth you were talking about.:sceptical::reading::p
Its OK I’ll go in search for her, maybe she remarried, used her maiden name, emigrated or went the same way as her husband. Who knows, but she’s somewhere.

Not that it helps much but Fred joined the army (imperial Yeomanry) .
Attested 24/1/1901 and was discharges 18/9/1901
He spent his time in South Africa.
His next of kin states Brother Harry Rack, address not know but Harry is then crossed through and Granville inserted and an address of
    86 Salkirk Road, tooting entered.

On 21/5/1902 a Fred L Rack age 22 leaves London destination the Cape on the NZ ship Ruapehu (which is heading for NZ via S Africa). He is with a whole host of men all have the occupation BSA Police.

    Different one, though :(

The 1911 census has her with husband Frederick John WESTLEY and born in 1885. :(

Last few days I have been tracking- trying to- a particular William, who gave name of father as someone who doesn't seem to exist. 'Been there done that in earlier post'. Now yet another William- same surname, probably different family- seems to have taken name of a child b. 1886 d 1890 Marston. Either he lied about that or was told wrongly, his father too a bit of a mystery. Hardly worth the trouble of searching. So annoying when they show up in families.

    George (1873), Granville (1875), Ernest (1877).
Urban is a professor of French and German.

I have no idea why on earth I am doing this. It all started with just wanting to know when Ernest 1877 arrived.....I got well and truly carried away but might as well keep going as I'm not sure the great grandson has all this info.
I now have been lobbed with 4 more pioneer families to sort. All before Friday week....and I've started drawing classes which needs homework.

But.....in 1891 there is an Emily Racke born 1857 Middlesex, widow, dressmaker. Have to take the dog for his night constitutional then bed so didn’t get where she was living. I wasn’t going to bother about her but it could be her.
I’ve had enough today I think. My fingers are worn down to the bone.
    Night all.

That Emily was born in Whetstone, which is in Barnet, and living in Fulham, but she has two young daughters with her, Marianne, aged 8 and Margaret, aged 5.......so if that is Emma, who are the daughters :nailbiting:

    Night night
