Dear Archie's Mum, I am the granddaughter of Frederick Rack and wonder if you are related to us? I have some info on Harry and his son Cecil Heide. I searched for that lady everywhere until his son told me Cecil is his father. Colleen
Hello Colleen. Welcome. No, not related but I have been involved in the writing of a local history book on pioneer families of our area and Ernest was one of those who deserved a mention. I just needed a little background on him but found his story very sad.
Hi, Archie's Mum, I have been having trouble getting in but seem to be okay now. I googled Rack in the Internet telephone directory for Australia and got 11 Racks there. I will be writing because no email address is given. I might find Ernest's children or grandchildren. Will if you know if you are interested. Do worry that you found some skeletons, we have more here.thanks, /Colleen
Hi Colleen, The Racks are intertwined with the Middleton’s, Sharkey and more. Lots of family burials in a little Cemetery near me. If I get time, later today I will gather all the info I can and get back to you. The Middleton’s are are a well known family here so I will contact you through ‘conversations’ on your profile page. It will also come through on the email address that you supplied here. Then we can do a little research privately. I’m sure I will find family for you.
Hello again Colleen. Just a few snippets to keep you going. Ernest Samuel Rack married Hannah Sharkey, although I am having trouble tracing her birth details. They had two boys before he sadly passed away. Cecil Granville 1910-1981 Ernest Hubert 1914-1995. Cecil married Eileen Ruth Middleton at Canowindra NSW in 1938. Ernest Hubert married Anne Mabel Masters at Orange NSW in 1944. Eileen Ruth Middleton/Rack died aged 79 in Cargo NSW 1992 Cecil Granville Rack died in Orange late of Cargo NSW aged 71 1981 Annie Mabel Masters/Rack died in Cargo in 1995 Ernest Hubert Rack died aged 80 in Cargo 1995 Hannah, Ernest Samuel's wife died 16 Nov 1954 and is buried at Cargo. As to the children of Ernest Hubert and Cecil Granville, I will have to attack that from another direction as they are too late to be on BDM's. I feel sure that at least some of them reside in my area.
Hi, Archie's Mum. Thank you for what you put on here. I don't see a private message yet. The one you gave me here gives me a lot more. Fantastic. I know why Ernest called his son Cecil. It runs in the family. Urban had Harry, Compton (can't find anything on him?Canada)Cecil, Ernest, Frederick and George. Cecil's great grandson is one working on family with me here in Cape Town. Frederick named three of his sons George, Cecil and Ernest. I thought Harry's Cecil Heide was female and hunted until Shaun told me Cecil was his father. I think Shaun died last year and his wife Jacky. My uncle George died at about 69 yrs of throat cancer, heavy pipe smoker. If you are interested in the rest of the family and details you can let me know. I would love to make contact with our Rack family there. Thanks a ton, Colleen
On the top right of the screen under the little digging dog go to your user name, hit that and in the box that comes up go to conversations. I have some more info in conversations that I can’t show here as these people are still living. Also, if you would like me to go the cemetery to get some grave photos, let me know as it’s only about 20 minutes away and I know where to find them. It’s only a tiny cemetery.
Hi. Thanks for all the news. Somewhere I saw you couldn't find Grenville.I wish I could get your Email address to forward to you a list of names too big for this site. I would also like to know the name of the town being researched and if it is safe from the fire. Lawrence Frederick was my grandfather and he named all his sons after his brothers. One way or another, ie first or second names. I think the Grenville was not a brother but his one son who died of cancer in Pretoria military hospital after being sent back from the war with neck cancer. I will look for more in the papers from family that I have. Trying to find out from the military hospital what kind of cancer as some are hereditary. I have a lot on them but too much for this site. Will meet cousins later for more exchange. Thanks for everything this far. Regards and hope you are all safe from the fire. Colleen Grehan
Hi Colleen. Did you eventually find the conversations on here? I will put my email on there. Also if you want anything more done this end, please let me know. Looking forward to doing some detective work for you. Oh, and the fires. We are well away but thank you.
Hi All, I’ve just come across this forum & am so amazed by what you have all found. I am the great granddaughter of Urbain Rack’s grandson Cecil Heide Rack. I have limited knowledge of my family tree & didn’t ever think I’d find anything, let alone all of this.
Hi Colleen, My grandfather Patrick Rack, was Cecil Rack’s son. I guess that would make Shaun his brother.
I have a little bit of Australian info if you would like it. Some sad info for Ernest Samuel who lived close to where I now live.
On the right hand top of the page here you will see you user name. Hit that and you will see ‘conversations’. If you could enter your email there, then I will send all I have sometime tomorrow. Happy to share. I also took some grave photos for Colleen and will send them as well.
Hi there quite amazed that I’ve stumbled upon this. My Name is Sean Rack, son to Sean Patrick Rack and grandson to Shaun Rack (cecil’s Son)
Hi Sean, I have contact information for both Colleen and Katie if you would like them. Also some Australian information as well.
Sue I have Sharkey’s in my father’s tree from up your way. I will have a look later as I am off to the dentist now.
