Although it is Monday, there is no “on this day” blog as the State Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II takes place today – and it just did not seem fitting to do so.

Your Majesty, thank you for a lifetime of service.

A beautiful state funeral. I'm all out of tears.

(It's also two years since we got that call after 3am on a Monday to rush to my mum's bedside; we didn't make it in time. Mum wanted Love Divine (All Loves Excelling) at her funeral and because of covid regs her church was closed to services, but it was played today in Westminster Abbey).

I was up at 5am to watch it here. Very moving. That poor family must be desperate for some rest and private time. What an education for those of us in the colonies! RIP

Lovely service. I was expecting it to be rather more 'highbrow' but I was pleasantly surprised. George and Charlotte exceled themselves. So quiet and well mannered.
No one does pomp and ceremony better than Poms. I loved every minute of it but had to go to bed after 3 hours. I felt very sorry for those poor young naval ratings though. They must be very sore today having to hold those ropes and hands clasped together for what seemed like an eternity.
RIP with your beloved Philip, dear lady.
