Has anyone else had a change to their FMP search headings. I noticed yesterday that the blue band across the top of the home page has gone, and to find the various categories that were there before, you have to select the box entitled 'Search' These are the only boxes I see. Search gives me the familiar options, which is fine, but all the address searches appear to have vanished - well I cannot find them. The separate 1939 entry has also gone and I could only find it by using the 'all records sets' option. I have emailed, but so far no reply (I know it is a BH, so may not get an answer until tomorrow), has anyone else found where to access the addresses?
Selecting 'Search' provides a drop down menu, 3 columns, the right column has this Addresses one opens the address search, you can select which census to search from there
Thanks @Chimp - but when I hit the search button all that comes up is the original 'search all records page' like this
I have premium - All I get is what I posted in #1 - I will have to wait for their reply or ring them tomorrow.
I have noticed that they have changed the newspaper layout now too. When you used to select an image to see the page would load and you would have the date and name of the paper above the image. Now if you want to make a copy of the Name and date of the image you have to try and highlight the paper title and date and copy it before you go into the image. But one thing they have done is that you are able to get rid of the blue outline around words that you have searched for on the image. Before If I did a snip (I use the snipping tool in widows 7) of the article it would have blue around the search-term. ie I would have to place it into my image altering software and get rid of the blue outline. Now there is a toggle switch that does it for you before you snip it. Good grief, they have even added a clipping tool and it downloads without the blue highlight.
I have seen the change in newspaper search, thanks for the tip about the blue boxes, I had not noticed those options - I generally download the whole page then extract the bits that I want from the download. I lost snipping tool, a while ago, but Bing (not my favourite, but am used to it now) has a 'web capture' feature which does pretty much the same thing. I am not good with change, but will get used to it eventually
Use this tool and you can resize the area to capture. Click on 'Clip' and it will open an inset window with the article without the blue outline. you will get the option to download from there.
I struggled to find address search too. I resorted to going to FAQs then in popular questions, can I search a census by address? which led to a link to census address search!
I've had the option to hide that for ages, but I'd have struggled to find it in this latest version as its not nearly as obvious - well not to me anyway!
So a reply email came through this morning, it told me to select adresses from the drop down - totally ignoring the fact that I have no drop down. So I rang, and explained. This is going to sound like I know what I am talking about (I don't). William, told me what I was seeing was the version, for small devices, ie mobiles and tablets. I am on my laptop. He asked what browser (?) I was using - Edge He then told me to go to the 3 dots at the top rhs of the Edge banner Select, then select zoom. Mine was set on 100% If I press minus, and the zoom reduces to 90%, then the full options appear on FMP Quite why I have no idea, but I now have everything that I had before - so result!
Mine is set at 90%, I just tried zooming in to 100% and still got the large dropdown menu. Mine gives the same results that you had if I enlarge to 110%. Good to know though.
