Could I please ask a favour of someone who has a sub to Forces War Records as I cannot see it all without a sub?
Reginald William Coombs 1910-1944 was among the civilian war dead in London.
I would like to know what the information says. Thanks.
I know he was killed in a bombing but I would like to find out more...

You can find a bit more here:
    Code:
    http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=24626315&ref=acom
I think he's also on Ancestry under:
"All UK< WWII Civilian Deaths 1939-1945

I think it's him in National Probate Calendar on Ancestry

    I don't have a sub to Ancestry.

Couldn't find anything on BNA. But that doesn't mean to say he's not there, I am quite an amateur searching newspapers. Also couldn't find anything on FMP.

There is also an entry on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website:

    Date of Death: 26/06/1944
    Age: 33
    Reporting Authority: GREENWICH, METROPOLITAN BOROUGH
Additional Information: of 16 Devonshire Drive. Son of Reginald Stanley Coombs; husband of Mercy Constance Coombs. Died at 16 Devonshire Drive.

There is also a note that says: Of the many civilians of the Commonwealth whose deaths were due to enemy action in the 1939-1945 War, the names of some 67,092 are commemorated in the Civilian War Dead Roll of Honour, located near St. George's Chapel in Westminster Abbey, London.

The find a Grave website was blocked on my computer so I couldnèt see it. Never looked on the Commonwealth War Graves as he wasnèt in the military, but a civilian casualty..must broaden my horizons!

The Forces War Records has some information that you can see and some that you must pay to see.. Thats what i am interested in, but don not want to fork out for a sub. :(
On a previous forum I was given a bit of information and yes, I saw the info on Ancestry thank you.

From that information I don't think he is the chap I am looking for. The one I am looking for was the son of Edward Robert Coombs. maybe I will check out the fellow on the boat although with a birth in 1911 he would not yet have been 18.

Now when I read the Find a Grave site it is his parents...Flora and Edward. I'm confused. could this have been added in error?

I see who is " maintaining" the site so will ask him about the conflicting names.. he is a relative of hubby's and I wonder if he made an error.
