This starts in Shropshire but mainly in Staffordshire, with the odd excursion back over the border

Samuel Podmore (Padmore) son of John and Sarah

1825 Baptised 30 Oct. Market Drayton Shropshire

1841 not yet located on Census

1847 marries Mary Espley (Esply) St Peter’s Collegiate Church Wolverhampton father given as John

1848 possible death of Mary Podmore Wolverhampton

1851 recorded as a widower on the census, in the same household is a Jane Povey a married servant from Newcastle Staffordshire. HO107/2019/897/28

1861 living with wife Jane and two sons. Jane’s POB is given as Newcastle Staffordshire RG09/1987148/10

1862 marries Joyce Joynes (spinster) 2 June Tettenhall parish church Wolverhampton father given as John

1871 recorded as living with wife Grace (Glostershire) RG10/2931/37/22

1879 Marries Mary Ann Rowley awaiting cert

1881 recorded as living with wife Mary A. RG11/2807/47/9

1891 recorded as living with wife Mary A

    1896 Dies in Wolverhampton

All records show Samuel to be a tailor.

I have not been able to find the following (they are very likely right there in the open and I just can’t see them)
    A marriage to a Jane
    A death for Jane,
    A death for Joyce
    A marriage to Grace
    A death for Grace.

Could Joyce and Grace be the same person? Have you looked for a birth/baptism of Joyce or Grace Joynes with a father Stephen?

A Joyce Podmore was buried on 18 Oct 1873 at St. Michael & All Angels Churchyard, Tattenhall.

Free BMD has a death reg of a Joyce Podmore in 1873 aged 46 which would give a birth date of 1827/28.

There is a baptism on Ancestry of a Joyce Joynes to Stephen (a carpenter) and Joyce on 20 July 1827 at Temple Guiting, Gloucester.

Thank you. The Burial Church is the same one they were married in.

Stephen and Joyce Joynes are in the 1861 census at Billbrook, Tettenhall, which is the address for Samuel and Joyce on their marriage certificate. Stephen is a gardener, so maybe he often changed jobs or Joyce made up his occupation when she married Samuel.

I do not think Samuel married Jane. The child Samuel b1859 is registered with the Podmore surname but the mmn is not given other than the first letter F

On 2/7/1865 at Wolverhampton St Mary Jane Povey widow married William Turner - her father's name is Firinstone (FMP transcription - image available)
    this is what is written

That was my thought originally but got so confused with the records / notes i had I wasn't sure.

The James Podmore born 1852 on the 1861 census appears to be born in Market Drayton where Samuel Snr is from with mmn as Pye.

There was a birth of Esther Podmore in Wolverhampton 1855 with mmn Povey Esther died at 3 weeks.
