    Hello Fellow Hunters

I need to find the marriage of Frances Bostock (but originally family name may have been the Huguenot Bosquet/Bousquet) to a Mister Graham before Dec 1838.
In Dec 1838 she married Robert Widdowson as Frances Graham and their children have mother's maiden name in several versions centring around Bostock.

    The marriage to Robert W:
    FreeBMD:

    Marriages Dec 1838
    GRAHAM Frances Chesterfield 19 419
    WIDDOWSON Robert Chesterfield 19 419

    Frances' Baptism from FamilySearch.org

    Frances Bostock
    Baptism Date 19 Jun 1814
Place Ilkeston, St Mary, Derbyshire, England
    Phillimore Ecclesiastical Parish Map1536
    Father George Bostock
    Mother Rebecca

Fingers crossed someone can locate that earlier marriage!

    A possibility....

Bearing in mind that Frances remarried in Chesterfield, there is a burial of a Charles GRAHAM on 21st May 1837 at St Thomas, Brampton. Charles' age is given as 22, giving him a birth year of 1814/5, which is compatible with Frances' being 1814ish.

Brampton is now part of Chesterfield.

    Perhaps a starting point?

Derbyshire Marriages and Banns has Frances Graham marrying William Dawson and Robert Widdowson marrying Martha Baxter.

bostock.net has Frances Bostock daughter of George Bostock and Rebecca Tatham marrying Robert Widdowson in Nuttall, Notts in 1832. So perhaps its a different Frances (Graham) marrying the widowed Robert.

If it helps, on FreeReg marriage transcription it says that Frances parish is Ilkeston, Derbyshire. Looking good to me.:)

Are we looking at ancestors of the Widdowson family who emigrated to Australia?
I will add that there are numerous Robert Widdowson's around that time. Four generations in a row in Nottingham.

This is also confirmed on the 1851 census as her place of birth:

As well as the children on the 1841 and 1851 censuses, there is the following baptism:

    John WIDDOWSON
Born 6th November 1833 Ilkeston, Derbyshire
Baptised 14th January 1834, Ilkeston Wesylan Methodist
    Parents: Robert and Frances

There is a burial of a 3-year-old John WIDDOWSON at All Saints, Aston cum Aughton on 3rd February 1835. Aston is just 8 miles from Attercliffe, where it says in the 1851 census that their son Abraham was born. (Mind you, it says that he was born in the county in 1841, so who knows...) I know that the age would be 2 years old rather than 3, but just a thought....

I think I would forget Frances Graham, Murf. As Sis found, she married William Dawson.

it looks like Frances could have remarried as she is in 1891 with her daughter Mary Widdowson age 43 as Frances M Collishaw age 71 widow head St Andrew Nottingham... page 45 RG12 2694/110.Not usre if the same Frances though as Mary is said to be born in 1848 (could be out a bit) but there is another Mary born 1848 died 1848 father Robert mother Frances.
In 1881 Frances is a widow Widdowson age 61 a grocer and confectioner and with daughter Mary. 1861 Frances is a widow and overlooker in lace warehouse.

Thanks for all the clues- some I love, others I know can't be right. My Robert Widdowson was Baptised 14 Mar 1813 in Ilkestone Derbyshire, parents William Widdowson/Widdison and Mary Musson. He definitely married a Frances whose maiden name was Bostock (or var.) as the children have that as their mum's maiden name in the GRO, eg.
    WIDDOWSON, ABRAHAM BOSTICK
    GRO Reference: 1838 J Quarter in SHEFFIELD Volume 22 Page 527;

    I love:
Therefore, Archie's Mum, you have found the one I wanted on that bostock.net place- whatever that is! Thank you for finding that. I will look on there and check it out.

And no, Archie's Mum, we're not looking for ancestors of Australians at this stage. I was after a Clarence Widdowson marrying a Bertha Harvey whom I have found and now chasing his antecedents.
