born 1923 Frederick Perl illegitimately to Emily Perl. She married Henry Cooper in 1928 and adopted my father making him a Cooper. The family were from West Ham East London. Don’t think I can find dads father due to his illegitimacy but Emilys family. Think she was born in 1904.

    Welcome to the forum!

Have you checked parish records for his baptism/christening? You never know, there might be a reference to "purported father." ;)

Also, The Local Government Act of 1929 meant that any subsistence applied for (such as financial support for unmarried mothers) was devolved to Local Authorities. As he was born just before this, it might be worth having a rummage in the local Archives to see if any Parish Relief was applied for.

The date of the 1911 census was 2nd April
There is a death registered of Eliza Perl June qtr 1911 West Ham 4a 147,
so it looks like Eliza died between the delivery and subsequent collection of the census household schedules, hence her being crossed out on the original document.

Okay. I’m new at this so it’s very confusing for me how you find stuff. How about Lilian Gertrude Bell born 1926. Married Frederick Cooper 1945 can’t find her parents. Where to look.

Your good. Memory serves me the Lamberts in Oxfordshire was the family where mum Lilian was evacuated during the war. She would’ve been 12. Think her dad was Leslie mother ??

The Thomas L Bell that @MollyMay found could be Leslie.

Every name I have searched (only a few) that Mollymay found for the children are dotted all over the place. Looks like the children were scattered save them from the bombs. I know WW2 hadn't started when the mini census was taken in 1939 but their parents were probably being careful.
