Full Age?

Good Afternoon.
On my Great Grandfather's marriage certificate it has his age as 'full age' I have no idea what this means. Does anyone know?

It means 21 years old or older.

And it can be so annoying too!

But just a warning - people often lied! I have a few brides and grooms who gave 'full age' but were certainly not.

As Steve stated people often lied, it was a way of fooling the church into thinking that one or both of the couple didn't need parent permission to marry, when in truth they did. When needs must.
