Can anyone shed any light on this gentleman? Another one from my grandmother's collection, but I'm not sure why she had it, as it is a postcard written to Sapper George Ellis, serving with the Royal Engineers, as part of the Egyptian Expeditionary Force, in August 1918.
I can't make out where it was posted (MI***AM, Mitcham?), or the initials of the writer. P1100175.JPG

After a quick look in a gazetteer, I can't think of anything better than Mitcham.

And I think the initials look like D.O.D.

@arthurk , and @GrannyBarb , I've found him on 'Lives of the First World War', but it doesn't say when he died.

There is no record of him on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission site which would indicate he survived the war. Ancestry have a record of his entitlement to service medals

UK, WWI Service Medal and Award Rolls, 1914-1920 for George Ellis
British War Medal and Victory Medal Royal Engineers Piece 0386: Royal Engineers
