George Heny Truan bap 1876 at Gerrans Cornwall and a son of George Frederick Truan and Eliza Robins married Rose Ann Field (father Elija) July 1907 in Hampshire. Goerge was blind. They had 3 children in 1911 but one died but when they emigrated in 1912 there were 3 children Eustice;Leonard and Rose Anna. Rose Anna being born after death of sister. Imagine my surprise when I saw whom I believe is the family living in Devon in 1939 with his wife and a daughter Cecilia and a son named Hector S. Is it possible to find when Frederick and his wife returned to England. I think that daughter Rose Anna stayed in the US but will have to check. Where were Cecilia and Hector born?
The birth of Hector is recorded in the June quarter of 1922 in Plymouth registration district (volume 5b, page 423) with Cecilia in the December quarter of 1919, also in Plymouth registration district (volume 5b, page 424)
I think Cecilia may be a bit too old to be their Daughter and looking at the original image I would say her Surname id Grant not Truan. Freebmdhas a Hector S Truan with the mother's surname of Field registered in the 2 qtr of 1922 in Plymouth
Opps looks like I misread the date as 79 not 19 (same as the transcribers) There is a marriage of Cecilia T Truan to Peter Grant in Romford 1946
A public tree on Ancestry says: Arrival 16 Nov 1912 • New York, New York Refused admittance due to blindness, family deported back to U.K.,not having left Ellis Island. They linked it to a copy of 'New York Passenger Lists 1920-1957'. I don't have a World subscription so it wouldn't let me see it.
ELLIS Island Records have Eustage George, George Henry, Leonard and Rose Anna arriving in 1912 on the Philadelphia.
Not what you asked but thought I would throw it in anyway. When Geroge married Rose he was a widower. His previous wife had been Hannah Pascoe. They had married in St Peter, Plymouth on 7th January 1895. Hannah died in Portsmouth in 1907. They had at least one daughter, Sylvia Adeline Truan, born in 1895 and registered in Truro. Sylvia was baptised on 26 Sep 1895 at St. Just-in-Roseland, Cornwall. Gee whizz. Old George didn’t waste time. Hannah died in June and Roseanna and George were baptising Eustace in the December. Unless of course he was Hannah’s baby and Roseanna just took on the job.
Makes you wonder though.... Why did Hanna book herself and Sylvia into the workhouse in 1907. Why wasn't she with George?
