Maybe she was born in Ireland and she went to work or was taken to Scotland by her family as a child. Just a thought.

You may have uncovered our Benjamin, Sis on your Immigration Ancestors Project thread. Found a Benjamin Porter, convict with full description born Stafford. Of course it may not be him at all, who knows. We will see.
    You are a star.... (+)(^^)(+)

The dates mentioned are 1819-1834 and the hulk or ship is the Dolphin, later the Justitia so I have no idea what these dates relate to. I thought maybe this was an American Immigrant only site but they weren't taking convicts after 1776....I'm stuck.

We only have one convict Benjamin Porter and I think now the one on the hulk Dolphin is too late to be ours. Darn...so near. Dolphin was a hulk starting from 1819. Benjamin came in 1807. So where did the new Benjamin go? Not that we need anymore confusion.

Hi. Grace and Benjamin are my 3rd great grandparents. This is what I have on them. Benjamin was born in 1782 in Dublin Ireland and Grace was born in 1809 in Glasgow Scotland. They had 2 children, John Young Porter and Mary Porter. John was born 19 Jan 1845 in Mt Pleasant, Bathurst NSW and Mary was born on 15 August 1847 in Georges Plain NSW. John Young Porter married Caroline Jones. Caroline was born in 1847 in Bathurst NSW. They had 11 children. They were William Alexander Porter b1866, John b1867, Mary E. b1869, Sarah Catherine b1871, Elizabeth Caroline b1873, Edith M. b1877, Charles B. b1875, Ethel E.M. b1882, Elsie L. b1890, Caroline Alice b1879, Alfred J.J. b1888. I don't have any further information on Mary Porter. John Young Porter's daughter Caroline Alice Porter is my great grandmother. She married Robert William Smith. They had five children including my nan, Mary Olive May Smith. Their other children were Caroline b8 April 1906 aka Carrie, Robert William b25 July 1909, Jack, and Walter Raymond b 12 March 1919. Hope this information helps you with your family history research. :) Here is a photo of my great grandparents Caroline Alice Porter and Robert William Smith. Thank you Christine and welcome.
As mentioned earlier, my husbands family are distantly related. His Uncle Raymond Gordon Williams married Lillian Mary Astill who is descended from the Porters mentioned. Lots of Williams and Astills in local cemeteries around here.

I'm back. Just had to look something up in my notes. Lillian Mary Astill was the daughter of William Astill and Elizabeth Porter. I think I have that correct. Raymond and Lillian lost two dear little boys in the 1930's in a dam at Orange. If you go to my media you will find a photo of them.
