If this is a likely death, AM, then yes, her parents are Samuel and Esther. Do you know when/where she died?

I'm not convinced the Ancestry tree is correct re the death reg. I cannot find a birth for Sarah Hitchman with parents Samuel and Esther.

May still be connected to Matthew Hitchman b. Berkshire.
Maybe Sarah visited sister Martha there & met Matthew Hitchman?

[that's how I lost a cousin from Horsemonden , Kent for many years until she surfaced in Headcorn Kent at her sisters home. married name had been messed up.]

She's probably delving into something over brekky.

    I am, I am!
No I'm not! Work, work, work! When I want to do this
Sarah, I think died at Maitland. Her daughter Ann Burnett (NSWBDM has her as Barnett born 1831) married Thomas John Carlill in 1847. Can't find my info on Sarah's death.
This family has been researched until it can't be anymore but Sarah's origins have been a bit of a puzzle. No one seems to have her before coming here and I would like to be the one to find her. (If possible) Ta everyone. You're worth more money.

A memory jog has me thinking that the Sarah Burnett who died at Campbelltown is believed to be her. The main researcher, who has written on line books on this family would have looked into it but not sure he is any better off with that knowledge.

If so, her parents are Samuel and Esther and no baptism has been found. Back to square one! :(

No! Must have been elsewhere when I thought that because the death at Campbelltown of Sarah daughter of Samuel and Ester in 1861 is followed by the death of William G, again 1861 mother Sarah father John. The registration numbers are only 8 numbers apart. I think they are related and are not mine. So back to where we left off!
Remember that there are 3 names, Burnett, Barnett and Bennet. All used by Sarah and James/Richard.
Ann was baptised Barnett but married as Burnett. !!!!! (Big sigh)

Did they have other known children? If so, what are their names?

Yes. There was at least one sister but I can't find the online info. It may have been taken of. Either Sarah or Mary!!! Probably with my luck it was Myrtle. I have no idea until I can look more intently. Will get back!
By the way Ann's death registration has her father as Richard James and mother Sarah, so now I know he, Richard/James were one and the same :)

    'Ja.' usually short for James.

I've been looking in NSW Police Gazettes for any scraps. Nothing on Sarah Hitchman or Burnett, several for a Richard Burnett, mainly theft from, several on James Burnett for theft here & there. Becomes easy to miss names after a while. I remember typing these out a few years ago. Often had to stop & check that I'd missed no names.

I noticed that death reg. for Ann. Depends on who gave the details re Father's name, tho' it does sound right considering he seems to have alternated between the two on arrival.

Can you contact the tree owner & see where their info came from re Sarah's parents?

Been into Trove also- no help so far.

This just in, not necessarily yours though.

I hereby caution the public not to give credit to my wife Sarah Burnett. I will not be answerable for any debts after this date; & anyone harbouring her will be prosecuted for so doing; supposed to be at Newcastle, or up the Hunter River.

Thank you Wendy. Can't say for sure though.
Found more on these two on Trove. William G was 8 weeks old when he died following the death of his mother Sarah Burnett. So definitely not mine.
We can rule out Samuel and Ester now as parents of my Sarah!
Matthew Hitchman from St Mary-le-Bone is now looking good as her father.

Hope this doesn't mean that I'm having 'seniors moments' I do apologise if that's the case. (darned if I remember)
