The said day David Smart and Margaret Mathie both in this
parish gave up their names for proclamation in order to marriage
having given in a shilling sterling to the poor (Robert Wilkie and
Alexander Landels becoming caution for their pledges) and after
due proclamation wer[e] married Dec[emb]er 4 1719.
Having once worked for four GP's, I have often thought that maybe that gave me a head-start in reading old documentsA late neighbour could transcribe old documents with amazing ease. She put it down to years of being a GP's secretary.![]()
