I see Prebendary as Residentiary. But I could be wrong. I have googled and there is such a thing as Canon Residentiary, but I'm on my phone so here's the link to the definition as it's rather long.

    Code:

William the son of Mr. Sherwin, canon residentiary of this church, etc.

Second thoughts, I'm not sure it's 'Mr'. I think the father's name is 'Wm' also?

Having a google, there's a fair bit on William Sherwin, canon residentiary of Chicester cathedral, who died c.1735.

Nope, this is the Will for a William Sherwin whose wife was Catherine, it looks as though they were married in Chester in 1704. I have a William spelt variously Cherwin, Sharwin etc.who married a Dorothy Keyse in East Dean on 8 June 1703. She was baptised 1679 but I cannot find his baptism. Thanks for looking everyone.
