Thank you all for the lovely birthday greetings. I was away on holiday in Cornwall and trying my best to keep away from the phone etc. I needed the space and I got it, lovely walks and fresh air. How I loved the walk from Bottalack to Levant Mine and hearing all the mining history. It was mostly tin and copper, so different from coal mining. The levels where they mined are deep and go out under the sea, up to a mile. I have coal miner ancestors and thought I had a good idea of how it might be, maybe it wasn't so toxic, there weren't so many gasses underground but there were the mine disaster just the same. We also went on a walk to visit John Betjemans grave at the tiny St Enodoc Church, not suprisingly it's very quaint, the church looks as though it's sinking and has a crooked spire. No birthday cake this year but I had a few cream teas, so I can't complain.:D
