This is the birthday of my mum Lt Coral Rose Kable who was born 17 Mar 1913 in the suburb of Banksia, Sydney, NSW, Australia and died 7 Nov 1994 in Port Macquarie, NSW. She served in WWII in Field Hospitals and Hospital Ships in the South China Sea, Borneo, Brunei and other parts of Indonesia. It's also the birthday of my cousin Patricia Walker born just 6 weeks after me on 17 Mar 1952 in New Zealand. I'm going to a friend's birthday party today and have 2 other friends whose birthday is on St Pat's Day. None of these people are Irish or even Roman Catholic!

I’m not Irish nor RC but just joining in the fun. Kinda have a soft spot for the Irish although my roots are mainly Scots.
Your Mum sounds like one gutsy lady.

My late MIL always had some shamrock sent to her, from her family in Ireland, to wear.

I've only found the banns of my Gt, Gt grandparents. Apparently no other records exist for that parish. Maybe one day someone will find the marriage register in a dusty old corner.

I know I've got some Irish ancestors - Connally, at least, but I'm back to 1700's on all my lines and haven't found them yet.
My sister, who is married to an O'surname, arrived at my brothers in Florida yesterday, and will be in my neck of the woods this week at a rental house with her daughter, Erin's, family. (All their kids have Irish first names). :D Very excited - haven't seen them in nine years!

    ERIN GO BRAGH!

:D I suppose it would have been a better St. Patricks day had we not beaten them in the 6 nations yesterday and won the grand slam

Did we win the Grand Slam? Really? My, I must remind my English (ex-prop forward) other half of this fact for the thousandth time.

I wish I had Irish ancestors; I would love an excuse to explore the Emerald Isle. I love Guinness too - expecially in Dublin where you can stand a spoon up in it.

    Happy St. Patrick's Day.
