Ansticiam Gybb married Rogerum Pearse 1662 at Clyst St George Devon, sourced from The Genealogist.

I have only put that entry on here because of the unusual female name, I have no reason to think they are related to my Essex Pearse line, I was searching to try and find more children for a Joseph & Elizabeth Pearse of Bocking Essex, never come across Anisticiam before.

What I did find interesting in my search was a a lot of Pearse people in Cornwall, some In Devon and the name in those places and Essex spelled the same way around the 1690s and early 1700s

In case anyone is interested I noticed several children of this couple baptised in Clyst, possibly some of other couples because I only looked properly at the entries of a couple or so.

And if you are at all interested, Roger was baptised, same place in April 1631 father Roger. :D For once I could read the register without any trouble. Obviously I’m not too busy at the moment. ;)
And three Ansticia Gybb’s in Clyst 1639, 1640, 1658. No image. I think it’s the 1640 one as the 1658 one has the same parents as the 1639 one. Besides that she’s too young.

Ansticiam must be the Latin form of Anstice which I have enountered before, it comes from the Greek and means resurrection, or 'one who will be reborn'. More commonly these days seen as a surname

I found it too but gave up after I realised about the only name I could read was Gybb. They appear on almost each page. Good breeders.

That's interesting, haven't come across it in Essex, but then I have viewed all the PRs in Essex either.

Thanks Sue but as the Devon Pearse families appear unconnected I wont be pursuing them, at the moment tidying up loose ends etc in Essex is keeping me occupied, forays into Devon is the last thing I need. :D

What a name. It is unusual. o_O I have never heard of it before - either Latin or an English variation.:):)
