What a fabulous way for me to wake up. Great news, Barb, I'm so happy for all of you. Little steps, little steps, but each one positive. Super-chuffed might be the word I think. Hugs and prayers continuing. XXX
Super news and just in time for your Thanksgiving Feast......hope Justin can chew a bit of it!! Maybe try some butternut squash soup or the like. My neighbour made that for me when I had all the dental surgery.......enjoyed that along with the "mushy" vegetables. Happy to hear he is coming along so well.....those 8-10 weeks will soon be over.
That is brilliant news Barb, let’s hope Justin can enjoy his Thanksgiving dinner being at home with his family
Glad to hear Justin is home and coming along His family will be happy to have him with them for your holiday. Pumpkin pie can be easy to eat especially when topped with whipped cream !! Please ask him to leave the deer alone from now on. Hunt them with a camera. XX I know a fellow here that wasn't as lucky ( if you can say that ) after he fell from a deer blind.
Hopefully, things are still going 'gang-busters" and only 2 days to go for the Pumpkin Pie - YUCK! but others enjoy it. 5 weeks today is Christmas Day and the family has what looks like the best Christmas possible - Justin will be improving gradually - and time can be a magnificent healer. to you and your family at this time.
We had a lovely phone call with Justin this afternoon. He called to thank us for their Christmas gift I mailed last week. He's been on hiatus from physical therapy due to holidays and bad weather, and also to let his muscles heal. He's still on some dangerous pain meds (better living through chemistry), but only takes the Oxy when the pain gets really bad. He goes back to PT in mid-January and will be evaluated as to whether he can go back to work on light duty. He can also finally start putting weight on his left leg then. I reminded him not to overdo on the holiday treats, so he won't have as much weight to hold up. He said he lost 35 lbs. while in the hospital, and he was trying not to gain that back, just sitting around. He's hoping to be back to full time hours by the end of February (has to be off the pain meds totally by then to do his regular job). Between the GoFundMe site, a fund-raiser at the school where his wife works, a disabilty insurance policy and family donations, he said they were doing okay financially. He's really getting restless to be up and about, but otherwise sounded very upbeat. Yay!
I can really sympathise there, make sure he doesn't get 'into it' too soon, I've recently seen the results or those kind of moves.
So glad to hear how well he is doing!! And yes, tell him not to be too impatient and make sure he is ticking on all cylinders before going back to work. Happily you can have a super Xmas now that he is on the mend. All the best from our home to yours!!
Update: More good news! Justin called yesterday to let us know he is now walking ... well limping ... without use of cane, walker or other such device! He has a few more therapy sessions to go, but is cleared to return to work on light duty later this week. He can't jump for joy yet, but he's whatever the Missouri equivalent of "chuffed" would be. He sends his thanks again, for all the prayers and good thoughts sent from the folks here. Same from me times a million.
