I can't find myself on Ancestry!

annabel

Puts the Heart into Hertfordshire
I thought I had better put my details in, in case my kids ever want to look.
I of course have all the details, I tried with lots of variants, just the place etc - nothing
Got a bit worried so looked on Familysearch, there I am all correctly written
So back to Ancestry with the page and volume number - nothing

How can I be hiding with all the info?

Anabel,, have you tried all ways with your search? less is more etc., just first name, just last name, a sibling or Parent?
Perhaps Ancestry didn't have that Page. Try looking for someone else who would have been on same page as yourself--I'm talking B.M. D.s here. Is that where you are looking?

Yes I'm looking at birth. I tried just one name, the place, mother's maiden name. Nothing.
I'm not sure how to find anyone who would be on the same page, as I can't see the page?

On F.Search try same surname & year +- 1yr. see if others come up- then try that on Ancestry. If not do you have Find my Past sub? although even without it you can probably see if it's there or not.

Also try Ancestry without the Mother's maiden name or minus the place, see if that helps. What about FreeReg just to make sure you really are? ;)

Or drop a name via PM & see if I can magic it up.

Does your record appear correctly on freebmd? Or is there a spelling error? (according to the records, my brother married a girl whose surname is not what it should be! He doesn't care - "Variety is the Spice of Life" :D)

Get the District, volume etc from there, then in Ancestry you can "Browse Collection" - "England & Wales, Birth Index, 1916-2005".
When you get the correct page, highlight your entry in the Index, then save to your Tree.

Or perhaps you don't exist? Are you a figment of our imagination? ;)

Jane

If the original was from a 'typed list', FreeBMD forget it Love. & they will never make a correction!!!

However, do make alist of the births for ? & ? Pts names x Mother's name on FreeBMD. You may be able to find a new you.:D

Hooray, got it using Jane's method. It was spelt right! the only thing wrong was that Chelmsford was apparently in Cambridgeshire at the time of my birth , rather than Essex which automatically pops up when I type in the place. But I tried without any place before, and it still didn't come up. Doesn't give me much confidence in my searches:sceptical:
