The following appeared in my local paper, although I don't buy it as you can read it online.

    https://www.
    romfordrecorder.co.uk/news/dutch-postcard-to-harold-wood-hospital-arrives-late-1-5875675

Can you solve it, I have, I think and have emailed the newspaper with my thoughts.

As this could contain living people its best to PM me with your ideas.

It says that the card was posted from Zeeland address but I can’t make that out as the postage is very feint.

Yes the card shows the ship Ms Koningin Juliana Stoomvart Maatschipij Zeeland which used to sail from Harwich Uk to Hook of Holland,Netherland and the card was probably posted on board the vessel.

I have magnified the postmark on the card but cannot read the place or date

Ann states that she arrived home after a safe crossing and that Franz/Frans collected her at Amsterdam station so she couldn’t have posted it on board the Motor Ship Koningin Juliana (Queen?)I’m stumped as there appears no hint as to her surname except for the word ‘E’ after the children’s names and I don’t think that that word relates to a country. :headbang:

She also says her parents-in-law collected the children straight from school on Friday, and expresses the hope that someday her father will be able to do that, as he is good for at least another ten years. (I think)

Yes, that was a silly error by me to say the card was posted on the ship because how could she know prior to arrival that she would be landed safely

Have received a reply from the newspaper....

    Hi Brian,

Thanks so much for getting in touch.

The family tree you have drawn up matches the one London South Bank University created which shows we’re on the right track!

We’ve contacted Richard (surname held) and (Christian name held) Branch but have yet to hear back from either of them.

I’m now trying to look into getting a phone number for (held) from (witheld)

Hopefully we’ll be able to speak with a family member soon!

    Best,
    April

Glad to say that the postcard is to be re-united with Ann, the sender who is still alive aged 82 and living in Holland.
