Irene born 1898 in Cornwall marries Elmer Spiegel September 1937 at Elyria, Lorain, Ohio. I can't find them in 1940. Irene was Truan but eventually took her step-father's name. 1930 has her living with her family at Elyria. Only want to know where she is in 1940 . Added: No idea when or where Elmer was born

I wonder if I am on the right track, because Irene was born a Roseland,Cornwall. She was the illegitimate daughter of Rose Helena Truan. they emigrated.
If the record @Chimp found is the original image, the person in the household with the circled x by their name is the informant. This designation generally does not make it to the transcription. ETA: Just looked - Elmer is the informant, he's a laborer in a steel mill.
Do you know when they emigrated and when Irene’s mother, Rosalinda married and to whom. I have found an Irene, Rose, mother Eliza and father George emigrating in 1900 to Ohio but Rose and Irene were ages 21 and 22. Mothers name on Cornwall OPC is Rosalinda.
According to censuses Elmer was born to German born Joseph Spiegel and Pennsylvania born Loretta. 1910 he is 13 1920 in the Military at Compound 1 Coblenz Germany. Home address 5 Frederick Street Pittsburgh. 1930 with widowed mother Irene and a pipe fitter at Byers Mill 1940 with Irene and working at a steel mill. So married sometime between 1930 and 1940 which I can’t find anywhere.
https://genealogy-specialists.com/t...lly-solve-their-whereabouts.9038/#post-136587 Most of the information except the 1940 is here. After looking for any Irene ???? in Ohio in 1930 I eventually found her as Irene Pier, should have checked here first. If I have this correct, mentioned in the above pasted thread Irene's grandparents were George and Eliza, see post #5 here. With daughter Rose and sister Irene immigrated in 1900 and Im guessing young Irene is named after Aunty Irene? Quite confusing without surnames.
As Irene immigrated in 1900 at age 1 with mother, aunt and grandparents George and Eliza then she probably classes US as her birth place and Elmer thought the same. No doubt that is her in 1940 found by Chimp. Yep! @Jellylegs found them in 1940 on the other thread mentioned above.....
