I have sent a link to this post to cousin in Illinois and now waiting for her response. Hopefully she will come to the same conclusion but it does give me hope that we are there or at least very close.
If we have hit the jackpot then we have managed to get back another 2 generations.
I will endeavour today to find more about the Pankhursts and the Beals/Beales, time permitting.
Now I need to concentrate on Elizabeth Parker.:reading: Thank you.

    Yes please :)
Looking for children for John Pankhurst and Elizabeth (hopefully Beal) and found a Stephen, 1761 as well as Philly 1762. Interesting that John Pettit and Philly (mine?) had a Stephen born 1801.
I'm sure someone here has Beal ancestors.......

I think I will rule this one out. She's too late.
    This one looks familiar somehow.
I think I found her once before. Right age for marriage at 19. :headbang:

It does say though that his birthplace is Ticehurst. In the scheme of things it's only a matter of 6 miles and there seems to be no other James after 1841 census.

Ah yes. Margaret Haw spouse is Benjamin Haw. I don't think they married but Margaret had little Margaret to him. He was married to Rebecca Blake. So Elizabeth is with them in 1851. Thank you. Memory jogged. Now back finding Elizabeth birth.
Thank you Wendy. Will have to wait a couple of days now. A visit to see Mum tomorrow and a funeral Monday

It has been thought for a long while that James father was Thomas and mother Mary. We have found a James Pettit and Mary Marwick in 1764, Wadhurst. When I noticed that he was of Cranbrook then I assumed that was his native place. Alfred, James son's convict records say his parents were from Hurst Green.
