I am hoping that somebody can see the details on the draft registration 27 April 1894 at Allen,Dixon, Nebraska because I am interested as to the name of his nect of kin. Familysearch says to visit partners sites etc. Unless there are two with the same name he was born at Helford in 1880 and he was the illegitimate son of Elizabeth J Richards. There is a 1881 newspaper report where his mother was in court asking for maintenance from John Eddy his father (a sailor), She didn't get it. In 1881 he is with his mother and her family at Budock Water (Village), Budock, Falmouth. 1891 he is with his grandparents William and Elizabethr Richards at Helford Cottage, Manaccan, Helston,
His date of birth is 4th November 1882 He is a Farmer Abode Concord, Dixon, Nebraska Born England Next of Kin Susie Richards, Concord, Dixon, Nebraska
There is a marriage for a John Richards to an Estella Susanna Chinn on 31 Dec 1908, in Dixon County, Nebraska. Says John Richards father was John Richards, his mother was Elizabeth Williams. If this is him his, his Wife and some of his children's burials are on Billiongraves Code: https://billiongraves.com/grave/John-E-Richards/26721546 Although in my previous post it gives his date of birth as 4th November 1882 his obituary says he was born 14th December 1880 in Halford, England. More information on him on Find a Grave Code: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/62664609/john-eddy-richards
Family Search gives the draft registration date as being 27th April 1942 However, the card states that he was born on 4th November 1881, which would fit with the newspaper report of 1881 where Elizabeth is asking for maintenance. The next of kin on the draft card is Mrs John Richards - the wife that @Chimp mentioned earlier.
Don't know where he got idea from. Maybe he wasn't told. His grandfather was William Richards born 1827 and died 1908 and his grandmother was Elizabeth Jane Willims born 1827 and died 1898. Their daughter Elizabeth Jane Richards is the mother of John Eddy Richards the illegitimate son of John Eddy.
Is John E the servant in 1900 at Dixon ,Nebraska, with nationality American? If so he was a bit quick wasn't he? Where can I find his emigration details? Is he on Ellis Island?
1900 census he says he has been in the country for 3 months. Employed as a servant which I read to be a farm hand. Countless John Richards on Ellis Island records so good luck with that search.
That is what I read and I wondered why he said his nationanality is American. I had a look at Ellis Island and there don't seem to be a way of putting the year in. I gave up.
Still trawling through emigration records in the hope of finding who he was meeting in America. I am hoping that it is a Richards's family member.
