The above is the sonof William Henry and Priscilla Jane James.
He is with his parents in 1891 at 1891 Pool, Illogan, Redruth with parents and 5 brothers and 1 sister.
Because I can't find him in 1901 and it is a shot in the dark, I wonder if this could be his marriage on Cornwallopc.
John Henry James age 24 ( father William Henry) and Louisa Evans age 24 (father Henry Evans.)
Groom's Residence H.M.S. Hermon? and he is a stoker.I need help to find this ship and to see if there is any information about those that served on her.
I have found Louisa in the 1901 and she is a widow and living with her father at
    RG13.Piece number 2243. folio 105. page 15.

As I havent found anything on an HMS Hermon, doesnt mean there isnt...perhaps its HMS Hermione and there is plenty around on numerous ships of that name through history. There is one launched in 1893 so maybe its the one.

The GRO Marine Death Indices (1846 To 1902) have the following death registered in 1899:
    John Henry JAMES
    Type: Consular/Overseas
    Place: Tribune

His age was 26, which could give a birth year of 1872/3, depending upon the actual date on which the death took place.

In Barbados is a cemetery, at Gravesend on Carlisle Bay. The main memorial lists a number of Royal Navy ships and establishments including HMS Tribune in 1899. Further research could turn up what happened to the ship that year that would have caused the death of John Henry JAMES.

I should have put the date of marriage and that was 31 December 1896.
    Now found on FMP
Archive reference DMR2 John Henry James age 26 . Vessel Tribune. Page 325. Where is the book to see the entry?
Other than buying a marriage certificate (which I don't wish to) where can I see the actual spelling of where John was?
    Familysearch hasn't got it.

I'm not an expert on naval records, but I've found what I think is his service record at TNA:
    Code:
    https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/D6746653
The preview shows him on the Hermione in 1896, plus other information including cause of death. Under TNA's current free access arrangements there's no charge for getting a proper copy :)

I think Dorset must be a mistake here, as Kehelland is a more or less unique name, and such a small place that you'd be unlikely to write it down unless you really meant to.

A lot of the information does seem to fit with the marriage to Louisa Evans (his rating 'Sto' could well be Stoker), and the illness/death while attached to Tribune fits with what Jan found. So this might be the bit of evidence that links those events back to the one in Kehelland....

Perhaps D.D. in the discharge section means Date Died?

I downloaded the service record as well so as to have a good look and the dates certainly tie up with what you have found already:
John Henry James age 24 at marriage - DOB: 6th July 1873 (a year one way or the other is acceptable)
Marriage on 31st December 1896, Groom's Residence H.M.S. Hermon? and he is a stoker. - he joined HMS Hermione on 11th September 1896 as a stoker and was on the ship until 26th January 1898
Louisa in the 1901 is a widow - he was discharged dead on 27th August 1899

    I think that it's a slam dunk. ;)

Found this by searching Google for John Henry James died 1899 Barbados. Sorry, can't work out what book it comes from - the URL is en . wikisource . org

So not even sure where at sea the ship was when he died - may not even have been Barbados :(

That's what I thought is meant.
Dorset threw me but it does seem to be him.
Dicharged dead is a bit blunt.
Priscilla (his mother)had 12 children and I have found 10.
In the 1911 census it says 5 have died.I have found 2 that died before 1911.
John Henry James.(with the help of TOP Dog) and Louise born 1891 died 1893.
There is a Mabel born in June 1882 that doesn't appear in 1882. So she may be one of the 5.
