    Hello,

John was married to Sarah, although I have no idea when. If I remember correctly he died in 1864, in Uxbridge. He was from Dorset, as stated on the 1851 and 1861 censuses. One gives Dorchester as his birthplace.

    I'd appreciate any information,

    Adam

This is John's burial entry - St Margaret's Uxbridge (the church is still there but the burial ground has been cleared and is now a round-a-bout with the stones, what is left of them, around the perimeter, the area is grassed apart from the war memorial.

There is a death registered for Sarah Kearley age 68
    March qtr 1869 Uxbridge 3a 18

I still cannot find a marriage.

Ancestry link 'your' John Kearley to a baptism in Sturminster Newton on
24/4/1795 son of James and Jane. Sturminster Newton is some way from
his given pob Dorchester (1861 census), and although it proves nothing he uses neither James nor Jane for any of his children. I do not think this baptism is for your man, but thought I should mention it.

I have come across this baptism before but I didn't consider it as being him. Thanks for this new information.

The Kearleys are a funny family really. John's son Richard married Caroline Winch in 1855, but nothing can be found on her parents, the only name being given is her father as a James Winch.

There is also a baptism of a John KERLEY/KERLY on 24th March 1793 in Tarrant Gunville to parents Thomas and Martha. This is about 23 miles from Dorchester and Sturminster Newton is a similar distance.

However.... John does name one of his children Thomas....

The West Middlesex Marriage Index (Uxbridge is in the west of Middlesex) has the following marriage:
John KEARSLEY and Sarah WALDING on 7th October 1821 in Hanwell.

    A possibility? :)

Certainly possible! Sarah was born in 1801, so that would fit.

Ooh you may be right I have had a quick look and there are Waldings being baptised at Harefield St Mary (where Sarah gives her pob in 1851) in the early 1800's - no sign of Sarah, but will look through the images later on when I have a bit more time.

Unfortunately the witnesses to the marriage in 1821 do not at first glance appear to be much help as they are a Sophia BUSBY & Richard MANN - image available to view on Ancestry.

I, too, am not having much luck find a baptism for a Sarah WALDING (or variants) at the moment.
