Now I know that we all like a bit of a mystery and a hunt so here goes....whilst recently looking around to see if friends of my dad had died over the years and, yes many had I searched for a Kevin Brannigan death on FMP using "include name variants* and although I didn't find Kevin listed, the above person intriuged me because he was listed as John Kevin F. Bamford M.B.E. (not quite a name variant, but a very broad stab)
So off I go on a search for who he was and why an M.B.E, he was born 1905 in Dartford Reg District, Kent and died in 1997 Barnstable Reg District, Devon , but beyond this have found no obit or any M.B.E listing for him... Over to you

In 1954 John Kevin Flanagan Bamford, and wife, are listed as incoming passengers - 1st Class on the Blue Star line SS Brasil Star
    Returning to Dartford from Montevideo
His occupation was listed as Foreign Service Officer Uruguay, last country of residence Uruguay

Quite a few mentions in the London Gazette, mainly relating to him being in the diplomatic service, all refer to him as JKFB Esquire.
there is this entry in 1953

PS It isn't Barnstable, much as the Americans think it is (they have a Barnstable of their own) it is Barnstaple

Isn't that annoying. We get that all the time. Place near us named Bathurst (international race car track). All the media and others, other than locals call it BathURst. Its pronounced Bathist. No.NO. Never BathURst.
Now back to John Kevin. Looks like he is the son of John Thomas Bamford and Susan Flanagan. They were married in 1902 at Bromley Kent. He was widowed, his first wife was MaryMuxlow and he was on the 1891 census an engine fitter born Rotherhithe in 1851.
